LOCAL ARTIST RECEIVES A MILLION

A Kendal artist received a million pound TV boost last week thanks to a popular new cookery show. Abstract artist Aimee Green saw her work showcased on BBC2’s Million Pound Menu, which aims to uncover the culinary stars and high-end restaurants of the future. She submitted several pieces after seeing a call out by the show’s producers of the show on social media and her work selected, and featured on the set during episode five of the programme which featured Atul Kochar, the first Indian chef to achieve a Michelin star in the UK. Aimee works from her studio, entitled Giddy Art, at her home in Helsington and her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across London, Lancashire, West Yorkshire. She is currently exhibiting at Kendal’s Bumblebee Gallery on Blackhall Yard, Cookhouse Crafts in Windermere, and Good Stuff in Kirkby Lonsdale. Aimee said: “I was delighted the makers of the show felt my work provided the impact and ‘wow factor’ they were looking for. I was tuning in every week hoping to see my work, and when it finally appeared I was over the moon! “I’ve had lots of positive feedback about it on social media and in the local arts community and it has given me a fantastic boost to take my art to the next level.” Find out more about Aimee’s work at www.giddyart.co.uk
